With a BA Honours in Fine Art from the University of Cape Town and a background as a pastry chef, she began with a hobby and a curiosity for rope and ornamentation, and the label is known for sculptural pieces in repurposed rope, cast brass, precious stones and organic materials. Inspired by a family “mythology” of women's empowerment, and made by a team of pan-African women and two men from an atelier above the Bree Street boutique, her work has earned recognition including African Fashion International's Accessory Designer of the Year and a place among Vogue Italia's top ten jewellery brands. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cem\u003eI am thrilled to have Kat join our philantropic auction and gettaway from her very busy studio so spend time painting!
