About Lucie Demoyencourt
Lucie Demoyencourt is a Franco-South African artist, she was born in Paris, but has grown up and lives in Cape Town South Africa. Lucie's father (Gilles Demoyencourt) is a well known antiques dealer in Cape Town, his shop Hautes Antiques sits on Albert Road in Woodstock and is full of treasures found around the Cape. Lucie's Mother (Susan Demoyencourt) has a well known ballet school in Cape Town and has been training girls and putting on epic end of year shows for 28 years. Lucie always says that she has been inspired all her life by the things they have shown and taught her.
Lucie holds a Masters in Architecture from the University of Cape Town, she worked for many years as a film set designer with many career highlights including designing for Black Mirror episode, Arcade Fire music video, Tutankhamun, and 10 000BC.
Lucie then worked for 5 years for Luyanda Mphahlwa at DesignSpace Africa. It was during these years that she started painting scenes of Cape Town in her sketchbooks...

About Cape Town Prints...
Lucie's path to becoming a full time artist is linked to the success of the original Kleinskys Bagel store in Sea Point in 2014 where she exhibited her first Cape Town paintings in black ink for the opening. Since then she has held 3 major exhibitons of over 50 original works at Chandler House Gallery in the Bokaap (where she had her first full time studio) Each exhibition of original ink paintings selling out within a few days of opening.
Lucie and Neil Williamson from Print Art in Cape Town worked to professionally scan each painting and create her major Fine art prints collection which is visible here.
Each Fine art Print is an edition out of 50, even though you are able to select the desired size of your print ( A3, A2, A1 or the best A0) Lucie decided many years ago that 50 is the ideal number of repetitions for these fine prints.
Each fine art print is on archival Hanemuhle paper, making them light resistant.

About Shellegance...
Shellegance is a license to indulge all of your mermaid, shell collecting fantasies, but in a fresh and elegant even adult way.
‘We make unique hand cut, hand painted pieces to hang on walls. Shellegance was created as a means to bring shells into the interiors space in a non kitsch way. The name came out of a joke, but is in fact quite accurate in its description of my intentions for the studio.’ Lucie Demoyencourt
Shellegance was born out of Lucie Demoyencourts love of shells and a pottery class in Observatory she was dragged to by artist Michael Chandler at the wonderful Wendy Coleman's house in 2018. These wall hanging decorative plates where made for Lucie's own courtyard, part inspired by Matisse cut outs, part inspired by a lifetime of admiring and collecting shells by the sea.
The Shellegance studio today comprises of ceramicist Senga van Wyk @skabenga_li, who makes all the shells and supervises the studio, Mi'hlali Daka who assists her and Ryan Haynes who manages our sales, admin and communications. Lucie Demoyencourt paints all the shells with her signature brushwork, and enjoys thinking up new products and making up shell puns for her Instagram account @shellegance
Each shell is entirely unique in both painting and shape as are natural seashells; no two will be the same! We celebrate variations, uniqueness, and freedom in our creations.
Shellegance is an internationally recognised highly collectible object gracing homes of many influential designers and tastemakers around the world. Shellegance shells sell out in minutes! Do not hesitate!
