Heather Moore is the founder and creative director of Skinny laMinx, the Cape Town textile and décor brand that grew from a hobby in 2007, when she began screen-printing her own patterns onto fabric. Her studio on Bree Street was guided by transparency, generosity, creativity and fun, and by a belief in treating people and the planet well. Every Friday since 2008 she has set aside time for Making Friday, a weekly creative practice devoted to curiosity, grounded in the belief that “when you feel curious, you feel more alive and happier.”  

Because the Skinny laMinx business is taking a sabbatical year, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to invite Heather for a crafternoon of shell painting! Of course, Heather knocked it out of the park with this beautiful scraffito shell (this means carved to reveal the colour of the clay underneath) it reminds me of wedgewood, and it is sensational!
