Lucie de Moyencourt is me! A Franco-South African artist, born in Paris and raised in Cape Town, In 2018, the inventor of Shellegance, inspired by Matisse and a lifelong love of collecting shells led her to all of this here today! Along with my team, we make unique hand-cut, hand-painted shells to hang on walls, bringing the shell into the interior “in a non-kitsch way.” Shellegance has been thriving for the last 8 years with over 5 sell out public sales a year and lots of private sales to interior decorators and hotels in between, this year we thought to open it up for a good cause and do what I love most which is to invite friends over for a crafternoon!

This particular shell shows a sort of glamorous beach going lady on the rocks of Bakoven beach ( he spiritual home of Shellegance because Bakoven: Bake oven, Clay gets baked in an oven, get it?) Bakoven is also where we have shot many of our memorable shell shoots over the years. This black and white illustration is very much where my full time artistic career began, I still sell a large amount of my Cape Town print series and for the first time, I have connect my two worlds here in this shell, I hope you like it!
