Lot_36_Mia Chaplin
Mia Chaplin is a painter and sculptor who works in oil on canvas and paper, and in bronze and plaster. A graduate of the Michaelis School of Fine Art (BFA, 2011), she explores the female experience, including sexuality, sensuality, intimacy and violence, in richly impasto surfaces where bodies defy the boundaries of their skin and merge with their surroundings. Her process begins with photographs that she disrupts and layers digitally before painting.
Mia is one of my personal favorite artists ever, I am completely mad about her paintings, both the subjects she chooses and the way she is able to capture her scenes, a master of the brush! Her overlaping soft classical bodies work so well on a shell canvas. Anyone that has painted with underglazes knows it is not easy to mix and manipulate, yet Mia has kicked this off the charts! An Exquisitely beautiful shell for one lucky buyer!
Dimensions: 35 x 20cm
Every shell is wired by George Magaso, ready to hang directly on the wall from a nail.
