Lot_49_Renée Rossouw
Renée Rossouw is a South African artist working across painting, woodcuts, wood-carved panels, screenprints and acrylic. Her portfolio, which she began in 2014, returns to African wildlife, landscapes, water and environmental concerns, portraiture and abstract, conceptual pieces, many with poetic titles — among them Communal Landscape, Event Horizon, Endangered Rosewood and the Afrikaans-titled Die Waterdraer (The Water-Bearer).
Renée is possibly my oldest friend, I was mesmorised by the unforgettable sweet table and display of her 1 year old birthday party, and I have been a fan of her ever since! We survived 7 years of architecture school together creating some of the most original pieces of 'architecture' the UCT built environment department has ever had to tackle :) Renée's artworks are highly original and sought after, I love how well her signature wood carving abstracts converge so well onto this shell. If you have been following her you'll recognise the iconic red dot!
Dimensions: 26 x 16cm
Every shell is wired by George Magaso, ready to hang directly on the wall from a nail.
