Jo-Ann Strauss is a household name in South Africa, in 2000 she was crowned miss South Africa, an event which turned her life around and got her a public platform she has been using for good ever since. As a globally recognised Master of Ceremonies and international speaker, she has hosted events across five continents, chaired high level panel discussions with global leaders, and been invited by royal families and heads of state to lead landmark occasions. A former UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and board member of major cultural and business institutions, Jo-Ann is equally passionate about using her platform to uplift African entrepreneurship and creativity. Jo-ann is the creator of ARTdacity, a Cape Town-based podcast about contemporary African art. Her belief is that art “is not just something to be glanced at — it is meant to be engaged with, wrestled with, and absorbed,” and the podcast invites listeners to slow down, look longer and listen more intently to the stories that African artists are telling. She describes it as “a love letter — to the artists who dare, to the collectors who cherish, and to the curious minds willing to engage beyond the surface,”
